Scores for Humoral Medicine
Shireen Hamza, PhD in History of Science

Scores for Humoral Medicine is a series of facilitated movement workshops where participants explore ideas of illness and therapeutics, past and present, through improvised movement. Each workshop is focused on one of five short scores, inspired by medical texts written in the medieval Islamic world. The workshops were developed with disability dance communities and aim to be accessible for all bodies, minds, and levels of dance experience. Scores for Humoral Medicine brings movement research into the history of medicine, enlivening pre-modern texts in a community dance setting.
