Working across a wide range of different media, Lebanese artist Ali Cherri (b. 1976) has steadily explored his native land as a political, geographical, climatic and religious territory. Whether investigating archaeological and sacred sites, borders or seismic fault lines, Cherri has searched for new ways to map and imagine Lebanon and its place within the Middle East. In conjunction with the Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts and the Film Study Center, the Harvard Film Archive is pleased to welcome Ali Cherri, winner of a 2016-17 Robert E. Fulton III Fellowship in Nonfiction Filmmaking, for an evening dedicated to his moving-image work. – Harvard Film Archive
