Kristen Zipperer is a doctoral student in social anthropology whose research focuses on illegality, sovereignty, and media use in the borderlands of South Asia. Her interest in Critical Media Practice grew out of her experience in photography, which has been supported by the National Geographic Glimpse Correspondents Program and exhibited in Seattle, as well as her experience facilitating an Idaho-based youth program that combined human rights education and artistic practice. Before coming to Harvard, Kristen lived in Kathmandu, where she worked for media publications and international organizations involved with disaster relief, environmental change, and regional politics. Kristen’s media work at Harvard will be in documentary film.
